Sometimes it’s hard to notice something until it’s gone, and restful sleep is no exception!

Maybe you’ve found yourself more groggy or irritable than you used to be. You could chalk it up to the effects of age or the schedule of your daily grind. How long does it *actually* take you to fall asleep when all is said and done?

  1. I’m out like a light. Once my head hits my pillow I’m goneeee.
  2. It usually takes a few minutes. I might do some breathing exercises, but nothing major.
  3. Somewhere between 20-30 minutes. But nothing that tea and some light reading can’t help.
  4. Oh, an hour at least. I toss and turn and flip my pillow, but nothing seems to feel right :(

How often do you wake up in the middle of the night?

  1. The only time I wake up is when it’s time to *wake up*.
  2. I might shift the covers or my sleep position from time to time, but I barely notice that I’m awake.

  4. Me and sleep have an ongoing beef. I toss and turn, then I gradually fade to fairyland, but before I know it, I’m up again! It never ends.

AND how long are those sleep interruptions?

  3. Maybe somewhere along 30-45 minutes. When I wake up in the night, I’m guilty of trying to sneak in a little bit of Netflix.

How do you feel when you first wake up in the morning?

  1. Refreshed, like a newborn baby, ready to tackle the world.
  2. In good spirits, sometimes there’s a part of me that would like ‘just five more minutes’, but overall I’m good.
  3. Cranky and annoyed by my alarm. It takes me the first hour of being awake to fully adjust. Coffee is life 🙏
  4. SO exhausted. It feels like I’m constantly running on empty and can never catch a break!!

In the past two weeks, what has been your overall mental health and emotional state of being?

  1. Smooth sailing. Life has its ups and downs, but I’m able to notice the sun beyond the clouds.
  2. Minor inconveniences irk me, but I’m able to go about my day okay despite these.
  3. Stress is a constant element in my life, I’m actively trying to manage my levels.
  4. Irritable, depressed. Sometimes I snap and get more upset at things that didn't bother me before.

Babe! Seek help :( We get how challenging it is to find the time for sleep, but honestly all those other responsibilities shouldn’t come at the price of your health. Chronic sleep deprivation can actually cause long-term physical and mental damage. With continued lack of sleep, you can increase your risk of developing anxiety, depression, and heart disease. Sleep is vital in healing our body and restoring chemical balance. If you can afford to release some of these responsibilities or allocate them elsewhere, we highly recommend it.
