Are You Getting Enough Sleep? Take the Blissy Quiz

Are You Getting Enough Sleep? Take the Blissy Quiz

By Blissy Editors 5 mins

Sometimes it’s hard to notice something until it’s gone, and restful sleep is no exception!

Maybe you’ve found yourself more groggy or irritable than you used to be. You could chalk it up to the effects of age or the schedule of your daily grind. But what if investing in sleep hygiene could give you the tools to reverse these adverse effects and improve your life, with little investment of time or energy?  Then it might be time to switch to Blissy! Take this quiz to see how your r&r is faring.

How many hours of sleep do you average a night? Be honest!

  1. 7-9 hours
  2. 6-7 hours
  3. 5-6 hours
  4. What is sleep??

How long does it *actually* take you to fall asleep when all is said and done?

  1. I’m out like a light. Once my head hits my pillow I’m goneeee.
  2. It usually takes a few minutes. I might do some breathing exercises, but nothing major.
  3. Somewhere between 20-30 minutes. But nothing that tea and some light reading can’t help.
  4. Oh, an hour at least. I toss and turn and flip my pillow, but nothing seems to feel right :(

How often do you wake up in the middle of the night?

  1. The only time I wake up is when it’s time to *wake up*.
  2. I might shift the covers or my sleep position from time to time, but I barely notice that I’m awake.
  3. Maybe once or twice to use the restroom or have a sip of water.
  4. Me and sleep have an ongoing beef. I toss and turn, then I gradually fade to fairyland, but before I know it, I’m up again! It never ends.

AND how long are those sleep interruptions?

  1. A couple seconds when I’m shifting.
  2. A few minutes, tops.
  3. Maybe somewhere along 30-45 minutes. When I wake up in the night, I’m guilty of trying to sneak in a little bit of Netflix.
  4. Could be an hour or hours, there’s no telling!

How do you feel when you first wake up in the morning?

  1. Refreshed, like a newborn baby, ready to tackle the world.
  2. In good spirits, sometimes there’s a part of me that would like ‘just five more minutes’, but overall I’m good.
  3. Cranky and annoyed by my alarm. It takes me the first hour of being awake to fully adjust. Coffee is life 🙏
  4. SO exhausted. It feels like I’m constantly running on empty and can never catch a break!!

In the past two weeks, what has been your overall mental health and emotional state of being?

  1. Smooth sailing. Life has its ups and downs, but I’m able to notice the sun beyond the clouds.
  2. Minor inconveniences irk me, but I’m able to go about my day okay despite these.
  3. Stress is a constant element in my life, I’m actively trying to manage my levels.
  4. Irritable, depressed. Sometimes I snap and get more upset at things that didn't bother me before.

Be sure to tally up all your answers to get your results below!

If You Answered Mostly A’s…

We’re actually jealous. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re already a boss of sleep. Self-care is your middle name! You’re probably curious and searching out new ways to max out on relaxation. Whether it’s that weighted blanket of yours or your recent candle haul, you’re always prepared.

If You Answered Mostly B’s…

Okay! You’re on the right track. Most of us probably fall in line with this category, so don’t sweat it. You’re getting decent sleep and are on the cusp of what sleep experts recommend. You’re not a total zombie but overall in some ways you’re still yearning for a *bit* better sleep. Try to incorporate some soothing elements into your nightly routine to encourage your mind and body to better wind down.

If You Answered Mostly C’s…

In your heart of hearts, you might already know that you should be getting more zzz’s. Maybe you have a demanding schedule and are just trying to fit it all in. You might be feeling okay now, but with a continued disrupted sleep schedule, you could start to notice that your occasional crankiness has become habitual. Or that pain in your neck and/or shoulders doesn’t seem to want to go away. Stop these bad habits in their tracks before they get the best of you!

If You Answered Mostly D’s…

Babe! Seek help :( We get how challenging it is to find the time for sleep, but honestly all those other responsibilities shouldn’t come at the price of your health. Chronic sleep deprivation can actually cause long-term physical and mental damage. With continued lack of sleep, you can increase your risk of developing anxiety, depression, and heart disease. Sleep is vital in healing our body and restoring chemical balance. If you can afford to release some of these responsibilities or allocate them elsewhere, we highly recommend it.

Blissy to the Rescue

The good news is that sleep quality is almost just as important as the number of hours you spend sleeping. Signs of poor sleep quality include some of the points we’ve highlighted such as frequency and length of interruptions. But perhaps most telling of all is how you feel.

If you spend the later part of the evening dreading the unsatisfying slumber that’s sure to come, be sure to channel a restful vibe earlier in the night. And as you explore creating a self-care routine to love on yourself, be sure to bring Blissy along the way.

Kick off your shoes and throw your hair in a messy bun with our 100% Pure Mulberry Silk scrunchies, available in standard, skinnies, and oversized. Or tuck into bed a little early for some low energy activities, like reading or a little bit of scrolling, and chill out on the silk pillowcase that started it all. Now available in twenty-six patterns and colors!

We often talk about sleep as being an extraneous luxury, when in reality it is a necessity, (as you may have now realized.) Add Blissy to your sleep arsenal and witness the difference to how you look and feel. Silk is no longer a want, it’s a MUST. ~Sweet Dreams!~
